McCaig Watson originated from the firm of G.L Watson, which became a legend in naval architecture from the time when George L. Watson first penned the designs for his triumphant Americas Cup yachts in the late 19th Century. Throughout the 20th century, designs for sailing vessels, steam ships and fishing vessels, including the original "Britannia", came from the offices of G.L. Watson and became synonymous with innovation, quality and the best of Scottish design.

 

McCaig Watson, founded over 10 years ago by James McCaig FRINA  FIESS, continued this tradition in the field of small craft design and consultancy, The firm developed a reputation for quality design in steel and aluminium, with a special interest in high-speed craft, workboats and pilot vessels. McCaig Watson is known worldwide, in particular in the Republic of Ireland for its customer focus invaluable guidance and advocacy in a world of increasingly complex regulation. McCaig Watson became part of Marine Design International in 2005.
